Grading criteria -
Spruce tops for Violin and Viola:
- Master: Straight, very regular and very tight grained, ca. 1 - 2 mm between grain lines
- AAA: Straight, tight grained, not as regular as master grade, ca. 2.5 mm between grain lines
- AA: Less tight to more open grain spacing, slight color variation and/or curved or wavy grain possible
- A: Wieder grain spacing, slight color variation and/or curved or wavy grain possible
- AB: Suitable for test models
Grading criteria -
Maple sets for Violin and Viola:
- AAA: Very nice flamed
- AA: Nice flamed
- A: Flamed
- AB: Suitable for test models
Cello

Grading criteria
for spruce tops for Cello and double bass:
- Master: Straight, very regular and very tight grained, up to ca. 4 mm between grain lines, uniform color
- AAA: Straight, tight grained, not as regular as master grade, slight curved and/or wavy grain lines possible
- AA: Less tight to more open grain spacing, slight color variation and/or curved or wavy grain possible
- A: Wider grain spacing, slight color variation and/or curved or wavy grain lines possible
- AB: Suitable for test models

- AAA: Very nice flamed
- AA: Nice flamed
- A: Flamed
